Jenischpark & Jenisch-Haus – Picturesque park with a view of the Elbe.

Imagine walking through gently rolling meadows, beneath ancient trees, while the Elbe sparkles in the distance. Jenischpark in the Hamburg district of Othmarschen offers you just this experience. As the oldest English landscape garden in the city, it invites you to harmoniously connect nature and culture.

What makes Jenischpark and the Jenisch House so special?

On over 43 hectares, you will find expansive lawns, old maple, chestnut, and oak trees, as well as the babbling stream of the Flottbek that meanders through the park. Sounds like a really beautiful retreat, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, doesn’t it?

In the middle of Jenisch Park, you will encounter the Jenisch House, a neoclassical country house built between 1831 and 1834 for the Hamburg senator Martin Johann Jenisch. Today, it houses the Museum for Art and Culture on the Elbe, providing you with a vivid insight into the bourgeois life of the 19th century.

And let’s not forget the view from the south-facing rooms of the Jenisch House overlooking the Elbe. Who wouldn't want to live here and watch the passing ships with a cup of coffee?

Insider tip: Visit the park in the early morning light, when dew still rests on the meadows and sunlight breaks through the treetops. At this time, the park is especially peaceful and exudes an almost magical atmosphere.
